In partnership with the East Panorama Ridge Ratepayers Association and Colebrook United Church, the WPRRA hosted a successful coal town hall meeting on Wednesday, October 16th.

The speakers included Bob Campbell, City of Surrey councilor Barinder Rasode, ridge resident and local physician Dr. Bhurji, and Dr. Frank James, a physician from Washington State.  An overview was provided of the Fraser Surrey Dock proposal to establish a new coal handling facility on the Fraser River and the number of new trains that will bring coal through our community to service this facility.  Dr. James, a physician, University of Washington instructor, and public health officer gave a detailed overview of the health impacts of transporting coal by trains.
