Noise Abatement - Trains, planes and automobiles!

Accomplishments:

  • After 15+ years of work, we have nearly eliminated the over 1,500 daily train whistles below Panorama Ridge. This is a major quality of life and property value issue for residents who live in the southern half of the ridge. This effort has taken hundreds of hours of volunteer effort
  • When Highway 10 was expanded, the WPRRA executive met with then Minister of Transportation Kevin Falcon and ensured a noise barrier was built along the new highway to isolate residents from increased noise
  • The WPRRA participated in the Surrey Airspace Task Force which attempted to reduce the noise from aircraft

After 15+ years of work, we have nearly eliminated the over 1,500 daily train whistles below Panorama Ridge. No matter where you live, it’s a bit quieter thanks to the WPRRA.
